{Plan Your Party} Garden Tea Party for a Special 1st Birthday

I knew when Ella was only one or two months old, what the theme of her first birthday party was going to be. I was in the habit of buying flowers for our living room and every time we sat down to nurse, she would stare at them and just seemed to love every flower she was around. Tea parties have been a big tradition in my life and I'm hoping to pass along the love of them to her, so it just seemed to be a fitting theme.

If Ella's first year had a color palette, it was pink and grey. Everything from my baby shower, to her nursery, to many of her clothes, were in pink and grey, so the color scheme was very easy to create as well.

I wanted everything to be soft and feminine - everything a girly girl would love. The dessert table was a sea of pink.

For the food table, we served a variety of very simple finger foods for our guests. The biggest hit was individual BLT's served on wooden skewers. We used moss balls for simple food tag holders. The center of the table featured two flower arrangements I created in tea pots.

All the guests were asked to take a moment to write a wish, prediction or just a simple hello that Ella will be given to read on her 18th birthday.

For favors we gave each guest a plantable number 1 that would bloom with a variety of spring flowers as a reminder of this special day.

The birthday girl's highchair was a labor of love. Found in an antique shop by her grandparents, then painted by daddy, it was a perfect spot for a little girl (in her pearls) to smash into her first cake.

Even our outside porch was transformed with tulle poms hung with fishing line from the ceiling.
